Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council’s Head Start and Early Head Start Program is now accepting applications for the position(s) of Area Manager for the McKenzie Head Start/EHS Central Office. The individual selected to fill this position will work the counties of Benton, Carroll, Henry and Weakley counties.
Essential Job Duties: The Area Manager will provide guidance and leadership to center staff to emphasize the importance of the program achieving high standards of quality, both in our centers and through community partnerships. Support and assist Center Manager in the areas of supervision, leadership, and mentoring, coaching skills related to day to day operations. Support and assist center manager to ensure that the Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Act, DHS, DOE licensing rules, procedures and Agency policies are met and quality services are based on mission and vision of the program. Identify and discuss problems or concerns at the center level with the Program Director and/or content area manager. Support, train or attend monthly meetings with center managers as required or assigned by Content Area Manager. Promote consistent communication between all parties. Work with center managers and community leaders to build and maintain positive and beneficial working relations through participation in professional development, public and community relations events. Support, mentor, train, and coach center manager in solving problems and providing feedback related to day to day operations. Read management and leadership materials and program-related materials to keep abreast of all content areas. Work with other organizations in the community to foster collaboration and monitor emerging community issues and barriers that may affect Head Start. Compile, evaluate, organize, and participate with Content Area Manager(s) and Director in the design, implementation and monitoring as related to community assessment, self-assessment, internal monitoring, and special projects for the program. Support and provide assistance and respond to inquiries from center managers. Assist and serve as advisor for professional development and trainings. Participate in professional development, public and community relations activities. Demonstrate an understanding of CLASS domains and dimensions by maintaining reliability. Observe classrooms utilizing CLASS system as needed. Assist with DHS Licensing Paperwork; providing technical support as needed. Monitor Daily Observation Checklists and transition logs on an ongoing basis for assigned centers. Preserve the confidentiality and integrity of all program information. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor as this job description is in no way intended to include all responsibilities of the position, but rather to provide a general overview of what is expected of the position holder.
Qualifications: The successful applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited university in Management, in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field with 18 hours’ early childhood education; Responsible professional experience which demonstrates supervisory and administrative responsibilities, (5) years of professional experience in management and supervision; strong leadership skills; experience in training adult learners; experience in delivery of training, computer, data management, internet, email and organizational skills; certification in CPR and pediatric first aid; ensure physical examination and TB screening/test every three years; ensure meet all mandates by Office of Head Start as required. Must possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license and vehicle with liability insurance coverage.
$22.53 per hour
