Early Childhood Classroom Coach

Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council's Head Start and Early Head Start Program is now accepting applications for the position of Early Childhood Classroom Coach for the McKenzie Head Start/Early Head Start Central Office.  The individual in this position will work the Madison County area.

Essential Job Duties: Perform observations of Head Start classrooms, rating the environment, materials, equipment, safety, interactions and School Readiness as needed.  Utilize Practice Base Coaching components for the purpose of assessing needs, engaging in focused observations, and providing reflection and feedback in order to set goals and develop action plans. Provide support for classroom management strategies and assist teachers with specific classroom activities when requested.  Provide follow up support to staff following any form of training for the purpose of increasing implementation of information and transfer of skill into practice.  Provide encouragement and emotional support to teachers by providing constructive feedback and support for learning and growth.  Maintain CLASS reliability.  Mentor and support classroom teacher to create a developmentally appropriate environment that meets requirements of classroom assessments.  Maintain Head Start Performance Standards.  Support teachers in understanding the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework and School Readiness Goals of the program. 

Knowledge or Skills: Must have understanding of early childhood development zero to five. Related experience 3-5 years and/or proficiency in administrative duties associated with social work preferred.  Must be able to prioritize, plan and track several projects concurrently and be able to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking.  Must have excellent interpersonal skills and patience in dealing with others.  Must have the ability to select, adapt and evaluate curriculum and materials appropriate for children birth to five.  Must be willing to continue training in child development, brain research and current trends/research in the field.  Must have understanding of CLASS Domains and Dimensions Reliability Certification/Recertification yearly.  Must adhere to all professional ethics and standards and be able to work with low income children and families including those with a disability. Knowledge on how to interpret HSPPS, HS Act, DHS and DOE standards, regulations, and rules to plan.

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Early Childhood Education.  Classroom teaching experience in age group 0-5 years of age, preferred. Experience with adult learners and ability to train adult learners on their learning style. PD Specialist and CDA Specialist preferred. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of developmentally appropriate practice for children 0 to 5 years. Must possess a valid Tennessee driver license and vehicle with liability insurance. Ensure physical examination and TB screening/test every three years. Ensure to meet all the required mandates by the Office of Head Start.

$ 21.23 per hour
