HS/EHS Program Nurse

Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council’s Head Start/Early Head Start Program is now accepting applications for the position of HS/EHS Program Nurse.

Essential Duties:
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following areas: Enter, Review, and Monitor to ensure EPSDT and Immunization schedule is followed on all HS/EHS children; conduct onsite monitoring visits to HS/EHS sites to monitor participant’s health records and other requirements for the health service content area; provide health screenings for children (height/weight, hearing, and vision screenings) as needed for infants, toddlers and pre school children; work with staff and parents as needed to ensure all necessary medical, dental, or nutritional needs of a child are met; provide training and technical support, as needed, to staff on all local, state, federal and program-developed health, safety and childcare requirements; assist in promoting preventative health services and early intervention to the families and teachers and provide follow up to families; instructs classes in CPR, first aid, AED, Universal precautions, medication administering communicable diseases; administers specialized medications and provides first aid; assist in conducting community needs assessments to identify health/dental and nutrition services needed for young children and families and applies findings to component plans; assist in keeping the Early Head Start policy manual up to date in the Health and Nutrition components; meet with the Nutrition consultants as needed for staff training, menu planning and children nutrition assessments; may serve as an interim nurse for a child awaiting a private nurse daily in the classroom; liaison between those we have a contractor partnerships within area of Health and Nutritional services.

The successful applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in health related field; minimum of LPN License; RN preferred; Nurse’s professional liability insurance; current CPR/AED/First Aid certification; Certified CPR/AED, First Aid trainer; experience and training in the health services area working with infant, toddlers and preschoolers; current driver license and vehicle with liability insurance; ensure physical examination and TB/Screening/test every three years; ensure to meet all mandates of the Office of Head Start; Head Start experience preferred.

Entry Level Salary/Hourly Rate: $23.05-$26.68

12 month/80 hour bi-weekly position (Exempt)
