Mentor Teacher

Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council’s Head Start/Early Head Start Program is now accepting applications for the position Mentor Teacher for Head Start & Early Head Start – Various Center Locations to include. Benton, Magic Valley/Bruceton, Humboldt/Milan, McKenzie, Miles (2), Kenton/Trenton, Troy/Lake and Weakley Counties

Essential Duties:
Responsibilities will be in addition to current responsibilities of the role of Teacher. Provide support for new hire teacher; models for and mentors teachers in the use of The Pyramid Model for Supporting Social Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children; provide instruction and support to new hire teacher in the use of Cognitive Toy Box; provide instruction and support to new hire teacher in the implementation to fidelity of The Creative Curriculum; provide instruction and support to new hire teacher in emotional support, classroom organization and instructional support utilizing the CLASS Domains and Dimensions; research and prepare materials for use by new hire teachers; review new hire teacher lesson plans and give written feedback; monitor new hire teacher performance and make recommendations to Center Manager and Early Childhood Manager; provide regular reports as assigned by Center Manager and Early Childhood Manager; provide new hire teacher with written feedback that will be placed in the new hire teacher “Binder”, reflect with the new hire teacher about his/her teaching and new hire teacher training; collaborate with Early Childhood Coaches on planning and best practices for teaching staff.

The successful applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Early Childhood Education or related field with 18 hours in Early Childhood; maintain CLASS reliability annually, current TN driver license and vehicle with liability insurance; ensure physical examination and TB/Screening/test every three years; ensure to meet all mandates of the Office of Head Start; Head Start experience preferred.
