Ms. Patsy played a very special role in my childhood. She lived just two houses down from me when I was four years old. My mom would allow me to go to her house regularly. Ms. Patsy always had Kool-Aid and snacks and she taught me how to tie my shoes and speak in full sentences among other things. She helped me excel in the Head Start program which set me up for success in elementary school. She also supplied me with an example of how we can choose to rise above our conditions by encouraging me to do better than the illustration I saw at home. Seventeen years later she also taught my oldest daughter in Head Start. The influence on my life that Ms. Patsy provided cannot be weighed and I’m thankful for the character she manifested in front of the countless children she taught and mentored.

I would like to commend the operation of the Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council. As a board member for the past decade, I have been apart of the daily operations and the many roles in the community with much needed programs being provided to our counties in Northwest Tennessee. It is a privilege to get to see first hand how important these services are to the communities.
