NWTEDC Community Services programs provide assistance to income-eligible households and individuals throughout a nine-county area. A Community Service Center is located in each of the nine counties. Each center provides information and referrals to other services available at the local level.
The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is a federal grant administered through the TN Department of Human Services. CSBG enables NWTEDC to provide a range of programs, services and activities geared toward the Community Action goal of reducing and/or eliminating the causes and conditions of poverty in our rural communities. Counties served include Benton, Carroll, Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, Henry, Lake, Obion, and Weakley Counties.
Programs and Services Provided:
Emergency Rent/Mortgage Assistance
For households in need of one month's past due rent/mortgage or first month's rent.
Nutrition Assistance
Support for the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) to distribute USDA commodity foods quarterly in the nine-county service area.
Employment Support Services
By providing host placement opportunities for Senior Aides (SCSEP), Workforce (WIOA) recipients, and other referrals who want to gain soft skills and experience.
Case Management Services
Goal-oriented services to promote self-sufficiency provided in Benton, Carroll, Henry, and Weakley Counties.
Clothing Pantries
Located at Carroll and Gibson County sites.
